WELCOME

TERRI MCKOY, LPC,LPCC, LCMHC

Your landing here is on purpose!

During our lifetime, we have experiences that may cause us to unravel or become distracted from the course of life.

In the midst of these experiences,

  • Have you found it difficult to maintain fulfilling relationships/marriage?

  • Do you feel stuck and unable to experience peace?

  • Is the pain from your past or anxiety about your future keeping you from living and enjoying the present?

  • Do you ever feel like you aren't "good enough?"

  • Do you desire to engage with a non-judgmental, compassionate, knowledgeable individual for support?

If you can relate to any of these, THERE IS HOPE!

In my practice, it is understood that your story and experiences are unique to you. There is no "one size fits all" approach when supporting you. I will walk alongside you through your journey to relief, change, and growth. My belief and experience have proven that longterm effective change occurs when the therapeutic process is inclusive of practical, reality and evidenced-based interventions and techniques.

If you, or someone you care about is in need of support, please contact me to begin an empowering journey.

THE COOL, CALM, & COLLECTED COUNSELOR

I refer to myself as  "City Made" and "Country Raised." I'm a native of Baltimore, Md and spent my adolescent and adult years residing in several cities in North Carolina. I am now a resident of Detroit, Michigan since 2017.

I earned a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Child Development and Family Relations. My graduate education led to an M.A. in Counseling Psychology. I hold active licensures in Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina. My experience includes licensures as a Clinical Supervisor in Substance Use & Addictions and an Independently Licensed Professional Counselor.

I've been privileged to serve in the human services field for 20 years working in various settings (i.e. outpatient centers, communities, schools, correctional centers, military bases and collaborating with hospitals). I've been provided the opportunity to support teens, adults, and families who overcame a wide range of challenges and symptoms in both individual and group sessions. I have studied and trained in Reality-based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and certified in Grief Therapy.

In my personal life, I enjoy time spent with family, word searches, sudoku, watching documentaries or sports, and spending time outdoors.
